Abstract
The Western Ghats of India are home to many indigenous tribes from ancient times. Intensive ethnobotanical survey has revealed important facets of self-sufficiency in dietary needs and optimal human sustenance. We present here consumed by the tribals, including leafy vegetables, wild legumes, and wild fruits which are obtained from over 230 plant taxa. These resources provide an insight into the sustenance of the tribals to this day. Because information on chemical analysis of the individual species is limited, food plants with available chemical data were used as examples. The names of the tribals are, Mahadeo Kolis Warlis, and Kokney.
